Macbook Rumours: Release Date, Prices and Specs

There are various MacBook rumours circling that we could potentially see the release of a few different MacBook models next year, including the highly anticipated MacBook Air. Even though the new MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models have only just launched, new MacBook Pro rumours are already being mentioned for 2022! However, this only includes a few details about potential features. We’ll be looking at prices, how long we’ll have to wait for a release, design and potential names!

When will the new MacBook be released?

MacBook rumours, it could launch as soon as May 2022.

A few factors indicate the new MacBook Air will be pushed back to the first half of 2022; for example, the latest MacBook Air was released in November 2020, making it relatively new.

Plus, Apple’s recent October 2021 event saw the unexpected announcement of new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models.

Plus, Apple MacBook Air rumours also suggest that supply issues could possibly be another factor affecting the release date.

We haven’t heard anything in terms of release dates regarding the MacBook Pro 2022, but hopefully we’ll see the new Apple MacBook Air release soon!

How much will the new MacBook cost?

There isn’t any certainty surrounding the pricing of the new MacBook Air. However, different MacBook Air rumours expect the price to start from £999, which is the most affordable price for a current MacBook Air. Plus, Apple devices normally increase in price when additional storage and RAM is added.

With that said, other Apple MacBook rumours suggest the MacBook Air will reduce in price, but it isn’t clear if this applies to the new model or whether older models will see a reduction in cost to make way for the new release.

This is the price of the current M1 MacBook Air, which was released in 2020:

M1 MacBook Air, 8-Core CPU, 7-Core GPU, 256GB SSD £999

M1 MacBook Air, 8-Core CPU, 8-Core GPU, 512GB SSD £1,249

Again, the same as release dates, we haven’t got any further information about the pricing of the MacBook Pro 2022. We’ll have to wait a little bit longer for MacBook Pro rumours to give us any concrete details.

What features can we expect from the new MacBook?

Those behind Apple MacBook Air rumours are super excited about the new features that are suggested to be included in the 2022 model, as well as some old features that could be included in the redesign.

There have been many design leaks suggesting the new MacBook Air will launch in similar colours to the iMac 2021, which currently include blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple.

Rumours also suggest the new MacBook Air could include white keycaps, larger function keys and a smaller trackpad. The chassis may be slimmer and boxier, plus sloped edges could potentially be removed. MacBook rumours explain that if the redesign rumblings are true, this model will be the thinnest and lightest to date.

We may also find that the new MacBook Air features a Mini-LED Display, which could see a boost in brightness and colour.

Some MacBook Air rumours suggest it will launch with a new M2 chip. However, there isn’t much detail on what functions the new processor will provide as other recent leaks mention M1 chips instead. Overall we can expect more performance and better battery life from the new MacBook Air.

In terms of RAM and storage, we’re most likely to see a new MacBook Air to have the same as the current MacBook Air. For example, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD space, but as we’ve learnt each year, anything can change with Apple.

Now MagSafe charging is back, rumours suggest this feature is most likely to be included in the new MacBook Air too.

In terms of MacBook Pro rumours, you may want to wait till the 2022 models are released if you’re looking for top quality displays for photo or video editing.

Apparently, the 16-inch and 17-inch 2022 models are rumoured to have OLED Displays and M1X or M2 chips. Unfortunately, we haven’t got any more details just yet about next year’s MacBook Pro 2022, but we can’t wait to see what’s in the pipeline for next year!
